Kirchheim Palace

Schloss Kirchheim unter Teck

Today Kirchheim Palace, surrounded by trees and the mote, lies more inconspicuously at the edge of the small town at the foot of the Swabian Jura mountains. This idyllic rural setting was built beginning in 1538 by Duke Christoph of Württemberg as part of the well-fortified fortress of the duchy of Württemberg in Kirchheim. The history of the former Renaissance hunting palace is marked by its function as the seat of the dukes' widows, which lasted over two hundred years. Today it is open to visitors as a charming museum.
